Anyone who needs an instant pick-me-up should always have face masks right by her bedside. When I was much younger, I never paid attention or even know the importance of a good skincare routine. There was a time when my skin was so dry that it would literally flake off whenever I apply pressed powder foundation. It was pale, dull and prone to breakouts.
That was until I discovered the joy (and importance) of having a good skincare routine. I’ve never really cared much about makeups but I’ve always loved my daily skin pamper time. My skin is far from perfect and I still occasionally have breakouts, but I know that it’s in a much healthier condition than ever before.
My favorite thing to do at the end of a long, tiring and sometimes stressful day is put a face mask on. I love taking that 20 minutes to soak my face in luscious essence and feeling instantly refreshed after. It works like an extended moisturizer leaving my skin feeling soft and supple. It’s a ritual that I do at least 2 to 3 times a week, sometimes even more!
The popularity of Korea’s cosmetics and skincare industry had driven a lot of beauty companies to create a variety of products designed for absolutely every type of skin and need. And it has become very affordable too. I’m sharing with you some of my favorite face masks and other brands that I wish to try soon!
Best Face Masks on Amazon
1. THE FACE SHOP Real Nature
You can’t go wrong with any The Face Shop product. They are a front-runner in the Korean beauty products industry and very popular in the international market. Their face masks are of top quality, thick sheets, and has generous serum. Its mild formula is great for those with sensitive skin.
2. MJ CARE Korean Essence Mask
Low price doesn’t necessarily equate to low quality. Well at least with MJ Care Face Masks, I can attest that it is comparable to well-known and higher-priced brands. I first purchased this in Seoul, South Korea during a family trip and it was so cheap that I was apprehensive at first about its quality. The essence is a little thin but still serves its purpose. I use this when I need a quick skin treat.
3. AZTEC SECRET Indian Healing Clay
Talk about rave reviews! With over 17,000 reviews and an average of 4.4/5 rating, this sure is one of the most popular face masks in the market today. It comes in clay form and has been said to dramatically heal acne and tighten pores. I’ve personally never used it. And that’s only because I do not currently have excessive breakouts that needed dire help and my skincare routine is working for me. I don’t want to break the status quo of my skin. But that won’t stop me from being curious and eventually try this out in the near future.
4. DERMAL KOREA Collagen Face Sheet Masks
Dermal Collagen Face Masks come in 16 varieties so you can choose whatever best fits your skin needs at the moment. Packed with Vitamin E and Collagen, this mask was developed using natural extracts so that it’s gentle on your skin.
5. KOSE Clear Turn Face Sheet Mask
Kose Clear Turn is a popular brand in Japan and you’ll see this being sold at every pharmacy and cosmetic store in the country. It comes in different varieties as well, but what’s great about it is that it’s packaged in bulks of 30, 40 or 50 sheets. Not only will that save you money but it also helps reduce waste. The essence is more than enough to soak the sheets until you use the very last one. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that it’s sometimes hard to peel off the sheets from one another. It’s slightly thinner than most individually-packed face mask sheets. Each sheet is enough for a regular 15 to 20 minutes use so for me, that’s just perfect.
6. FRIDAY GLOW Under-Eye Patches
We often neglect our under-eye when it comes to nightly treatment until we start seeing dark circles and fine lines. Take away the day’s stress OR start your day right by treating your under-eye with a soothing patch to reduce the puffiness and instantly brighten the area. I love using these after a long night!
7. THE FACE SHOP The Solution Essence Sheets
If you’re feeling a little bit extra, The Solution line of face masks from The Face Shop should give you that instant glow and hydration.
8. TonyMoly I’m Real Hydrating Mask Sheet
TonyMoly is another popular Korean brand of face masks. These masks will help hydrate and brighten your skin.
9. LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask
Did you know that they’ve now created a sleeping mask for your lips? Yup neither did I. I guess lip balms are no longer enough to keep your lips soft and smooth. I think this would especially serve its purpose during colder weather to keep our lips from being too dry and cracked.
10. LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask
Another one of Laneige’s popular skincare products is the Water Sleeping Mask. I recommend using this if your skin is feeling extra dry and needs some deep hydration.
11. NEW YORK BIOLOGY Dead Sea Mud Mask
Another popular mud mask is this one from New York Biology. This mask is formulated for all skin types and helps remove blackheads and reduce the size of your pores.
12. NATURE REPUBLIC Aloe Vera Soothing Gel 92%
Aloe Vera is known for its many skin benefits and is a common ingredient in a lot of beauty products. This aloe vera soothing gel has gotten quite popular over the years and each major beauty brand has its own version. Nature Republic Aloe Vera soothing gel is a staple in my counter and I just love that you can use it in many different ways. You can use it as a simple moisturizer, a hair styling cream, aftershave or sunburn soothing gel, body cream, and of course, as a face mask. I’ve also used it together with my liquid foundation or BB cream (mixing equal parts) which somehow helps with making the foundation to be more natural-looking.
13. NATURE REPUBLIC Real Nature Mask Sheet
Nature Republic also carries a good line of face mask sheets and is also one of my staples. Like its The Face Shop counterpart, this mask sheet is packed with generous essence, easy on the skin and provides instant relief and hydration when you need it.
14. OLAY Regenerist Overnight Facial Mask
And lastly, tried and tested brand Olay is a great choice for an overnight cream. This leave-on face mask hydrates your skin as you sleep and helps you achieve that glowing skin in the morning.
Some of these brands may have a little bit more essence than what you would need. What I usually do, and so does a lot of people, is to apply it somewhere else like my arms, knees, or any other area that’s feeling a little rough and dry. Sometimes I would also save up the essence and use it to hydrate a compressed mask sheet.
Remember that everyone’s skin is different and always do a patch test first before using a product. What may work for me may not for you. There are other popular brands like Dr. Jart’s Mask Sheet that are highly recommended by beauty bloggers, but I found it to be too harsh for my skin. So it’s really a matter of finding which brands work well with your skin type. I suggest starting out with brands that specialize in formulating essences/serums and uses natural ingredients. A water-based mask sheet is also a great first-time choice. If there’s any stinging, burning or even itching feeling, stop using the product immediately and wash your face well. There’s nothing more damaging to your skin than using a product that’s not right for you.
